Dystopia soundset for ArcSyn
ArcSyn is an incredible machine for sound design, especially in its range of randomized modulations. It excels in creating constantly shifting soundscapes and textures. In the “Dystopia” soundset I’ve concentrated on dark moods, tension, anxiety, disturbed thought and what might be the soundtrack of a grim sci-fi future. The project began as late night synth tweakings while watching horror movies. Many recent horror movies have minimal soundtracks which gives great scope for composing while watching. Most entertaining of all was holding down one-note horror textures during a movie and everyone thinking it was part of the soundtrack 😀
If you’re familar with 1984 then the Dystopia artwork will look familar, and the 101 patches significant. I’m really pleased with how this set turned out. If you need some darkness and torment Dystopia is the path.

* To install, unzip the file and drag the folder of sounds into your ArcSyn preset folder. It is located in the “Documents” folder on both PC and Mac. Special info for NI-NKS users only: Note that inside the main folder of patches you’ll find a zipped folder called “Dystopia-nksf” – this is a folder of tagged nksf patches – so you’ll probably want to unzip the folder and use that version instead. If you’re not an NKS user then you can safely delete that zip – or just ignore it. For more info about ArcSyn in general see the ArcSyn online manual here: https://www.spcplugins.com/arcsyn-manual
